Someone to watch over me

This is my tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016-February .  I wanted to use this sweet picture of my new grandaughter and her big brother, and when I saw the challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge-Inspired by a song I immediately thought of the old song Someone to Watch Over Me.
Also adding to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Anything Goes.

I am enjoying the technique challenges for the Tags of 2016, this is the first year I've played along. I haven't used the Texture Paste before and I didn't have any of the Valentine stencil words so I pulled out a metal dragonfly stencil from Dreamweavers.  The metal stencil makes the image a little thicker so I was careful to let it dry for a couple of hours before I heated the embossing powder.  I also didn't have any word strips with the sentiment so I created them in Excel with a black background and white font and printed it on cardstock.  I may use that again, I like the way it turned out!

Love-Spritz

I was inspired by a card on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge-Spritz and Spray, you can see the awesome card here: 'Made by Sannie'

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of the awesome supplies Sannie used so I had to improvise.  My card doesn't look as 'edgy' as hers does, but it's a start. I'm also pretty new at spritzing...my nozzle kept spraying in the wrong direction so I was nervous to spray like you're supposed to, next time I'll give myself a little more room to work with!  I even spritzed the paper flower but it looks solid, lol.  I've always loved children silhouettes but I didn't have the Andy Skinner Stencil  that Sannie used so I pulled out an old stamp and heat embossed it in black. (I'm going to have to put that on my wish list since it's currently sold out) The image I used reminds me of a little girl mailing a Valentine, so I added a couple of hearts.

Heartfelt

Unfortunately I've had to make a couple of sympathy cards lately.  My cousin passed away recently and she lived near the ocean, so I'm hoping this card will let her husband know we're thinking of him.

Because I needed to put it in the mail, I wanted to make a one layer card with no embellishments, which works well for a masculine card as well.

Healing wings

I've always liked Healing Wings from Skipping Stones Design, so when I needed a Sympathy card, I reached for it. I love the butterflies in Healing Wings, but chose to use the poem from that set and then the flowers from Beautiful Botanicals.

Love makes the world go 'round - Tag

Hubby and I aren't too into Valentine's Day celebrations, our anniversary is in January and we've just never felt the need to do much for Valentine's Day so I really didn't need a card.  But, I love a challenge, and I've had this cute gear heart stamp from Technique Tuesday for quite a while and haven't had an occasion to use it much so I decided to try my hand at another tag.

I enjoyed the Tim Holtz January Tag Challenge so much that I wanted to try it again and it fits in perfectly with the challenge over at Frilly and Funkie: Enjoy Your Embossing I heat embossed the Heart with Versamark and Red Embossing Powder, then I embossed a Spellbinders Metal Sheet in a bronze color with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.
